Where are you going?
We are starting our journey from Los Angeles after a brief stop in Chicago. Our goal is to spend time “living like locals” around the world and bring to life the authentic foods in these regions as authentic food ambassadors.
2015 – South America
We will start our journey in Buenos Aires and stay in Argentina for the majority of our time. We will visit the neighboring countries, i.e: Uruguay, Chile, Peru, and Brazil.
2016 – South East Asia and Oceania
We will start our journey in Hong-Kong and from there visit a number of countries including Vietnam, Thailand and Cambodia; Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and the Philippines. The second half of 2016 will be focused on Oceania where we will visit Australia, New Zealand and New Caledonia.
2017 – Europe
The focus for 2017 will be discovering authentic foods in Western and Eastern Europe. We will also reconnect with friends and family and take a much needed break.
2018 – Africa
There are many details that still need to be sorted out, but our intention is to visit a few countries in the northern, central and southern parts of the continent as well as a mix between French speaking African countries and English speaking countries. Some of the countries on our list include: Egypt, Algeria, Morocco, Senegal, Cape Verde, Tanzania, South Africa, Madagascar, amongst others.
How do you pick the places and authentic food that you will highlight?
Our recommendations for food and places to visit come from research and personal recommendations from friends and acquaintances that know or live in a particular region.
We will also make our own observations based on visits to the local farmers markets and local stores. We will also experience the authentic food based on local recommendations. And finally, we will interview local producers and experts to understand the cultural significance of the authentic food.
How will you tell your stories?
We will post and provide updates on authenticfoodquest.com as well as social media using pictures, videos and text. We will feature people and places that contribute to making authentic food in the region. This will include local producers, farmers, artisans, grand-ma, chefs and many more. We will be highlighting authentic foods of the different regions we will visit.
