What Users are Saying About The Buenos Aires Food Trail

Buenos Aires Food Trail reviewer

As soon as I downloaded the Buenos Aires Food Trail, I was immediately hungry for our trip. There was just enough information for our short trip. We liked the ‘dishes not to miss’ and the neighborhoods to visit for food. We tried empanadas and had amazing steak dishes. Thanks guys for the Food Trail, you got us jazzed up for our trip and we knew exactly where to go.

Everything was great and easy to use for the Buenos Aires Food Trail. We visited two local restaurants. Our only regret is that we did not have enough time in Buenos Aires to try more places listed. Great guide, very clear and easy to download and use while walking around.

Stay Like a Local

For a truly authentic eating experience, it helps to stay where the locals stay. In the local neighborhoods, you see where the locals eat and shop and you discover the authentic restaurants, markets and local food experiences.

The Palermo neighborhood (barrio) is popular area among tourists. Broken up into distinct regions like Palermo Hollywood and Palermo Soho, you’ll find hip boutique hotels, trendy bars and restaurants, and the type of shopping you can find in any major city around the world.

For a real, local and Argentinian feel, we stayed in and recommend the San Telmo barrio. It’s a vibrant neighborhood with a rough exterior, filled with authentic steak houses and a variety of local restaurants. Enjoy tango on the streets and prices that are a lot cheaper. It’s a local’s neighborhood with a real soul.

To taste a slice of local life in Buenos Aires, we recommend Moreno Hotel in San Telmo.

How do you find Authentic Food at the various destinations?

This is a question we get asked frequently. We travel slow and we use a process called “Savor Local.” It’s a 12-Step process to finding all the wonderful local and authentic foods at a destination. In summary, the process breaks down into four main parts. We start by researching the local foods ahead of time before we visit the country. We connect with locals prior to leaving and also while in the country. We visit numerous markets and food stores to see the unique and regional specialties. We interview local experts like chefs, food journalists, food-loving locals, and restaurant owners to understand the local specialties and their local significance. And finally, we eat at local eateries and restaurants that focus on regional and authentic dishes.
