And we are off….next stop Buenos Aires!!!
Let’s go forth boldly!
After months of preparation, we are finally leaving for Buenos Aires, Argentina. Our quest for authentic food in South America, begins in Buenos Aires. For the next 6 months, our plan is to visit Uruguay, Chile and Peru.
At the present time, all the details are not fully worked out. We know where we will be staying for the first month in Buenos Aires. And everything after that is vague and tentative. You can read more about our travels here.

A Leap of Faith
“Go confidently in the direction of your dreams! Live the life you’ve imagined. As you simplify your life, the laws of the universe will be simpler.”
Henry David Thoreau
This quote, from the book Walden, by Henry David Thoreau is one of our guiding principles. The idea of “go forth boldly” inspires us and pushes past the fear.
We have taken a “leap of faith” by combining our love for food and passion for travel and created Authentic Food Quest to inspire people to travel through authentic food.
Thoreau in Walden, goes on to say “that if one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours.”
In our previous post, moving for long-term travel, we share how we organized our move from Los Angeles, via Chicago and ultimately to Buenos Aires in under two months. We broke down the arduous process into several different categories. From preparing our health and vaccinations, electronics on the road all the way to selling our furniture.
With every step we made in getting rid of unnecessary documents, books and clothes, we felt freer and lighter. We were becoming minimalists and life was becoming much simpler.
In the book Walden, Henry David Thoreau also says “in proportion as he simplifies his life, the laws of the universe will appear less complex…” And with a simple plan and a strong desire we are determined to “go forth boldly.”
Packing Down To The Essentials
As we set off for Argentina, we are carrying our homes on our back. Everything we could possibly need has been packed down into 44 pounds or 20 kg. In our post packing down, we describe in detail the essentials items we are taking in our backpacks.
With a plan and a dream, we are now setting off for Buenos Aires, Argentina. We are excited about this journey and at the same time nervous. Full of curiosity and a sense of adventure, we invite you to join us on this journey. Let us together, “go forth boldly.”
